Situated amidst the breathtaking natural beauty of the Adelaide Hills, Longwood was designed to harmonize with its surroundings. The project's core focus was its remarkable bush site and panoramic views spanning from the Adelaide Hills to the sea.

In response to the site's challenging conditions, we crafted both form and materiality to ensure resilience. Longwood faces harsh elements, enduring strong winds, heavy rains, and resides within an extreme bushfire zone. Our design tackles these challenges head-on, offering fire protection and a strong connection to the earth, while also enabling operable building skins. This flexibility allows for closure during adverse weather conditions or fires, and opening to harness natural ventilation.
